SIR: I refer to the article: Boy banned from exam over haircut (BEN, June 20).
After reading your article I felt I had to write and say how stupid the school were over this incident.
Teenagers have enough to think about at this time of year, I know I've got a 16-year-old taking his exams too.
I understand the school has standards but the pupil only attends a few hours to complete the exam. Plus the fact that a 16-year-old boy is attending to sit his exam these days is something to be applauded not slapped down.
They have denied this boy a chance to prove how much he's achieved over the last five years and possibly lost him a place in college.
Rules are rules, but this is a time when rules could and should have been bent. Good luck Steven with the rest of your results.
