A THIEF who calmly waited his turn in a building society queue before handing over a type written demand for cash, escaped with £2,500 in a supermarket carrier bag.
The raider actually queued for several minutes with other customers before robbing the building society.
The robbery took place in the Alliance and Leicester Building Society in Swinton shortly before 2pm yesterday.
The thief approached the 57-year-old woman cashier and handed over the typed note which read: "Warning. Be quick, no heroics or fire buttons. I have a loaded fire arm."
The thief is described as white, aged 38 to 40 years with dark brown hair, which is going grey. He was wearing a dark brown bomber jacket, cream jean type trousers and an Australian green baseball cap.
