A REWARD of £8,000 is being offered for the return of two stolen cases of jewellery, together with the arrest and conviction of the thieves who took it.

The robbery happened at 3.15pm on Wednesday, June 4, in the School Lane area of Walmersley, Bury.

Two men, one carrying a baseball bat, attacked a man holding two sample cases containing a "substantial" amount of jewellery.

They snatched the cases and escaped in a blue Ford Escort saloon, registration A502 HND, which was later found abandoned in a garage complex on Mill Road, Walmersley.

It is thought the thieves had hidden themselves, before making their move, in a dilapidated green and cream caravan, close to the scene of the crime. The caravan carried the same number plate as the Escort.

The offer of the reward has been made by an insurance company.

Anyone able to help the police investigation should contact Bury CID on 0161 872 5050.
