PETER Beardlsey has said 'no' to a move to Bolton Wanderers.
The former England veteran has told Colin Todd that he wants to stay on Tyneside, where his family is settled and where he hopes to have at least another season with Newcastle.
But the Wanderers boss, who had hoped to persuade the 36-year-old striker to lead his assault on the Premiership next season, believes it was a tough decision for the player to make.
Beardsley said 'no' to offers of player-manager positions at Stoke City and Hull City at the weekend but significantly delayed commenting on the Wanderers' offer.
"Peter's decision was all about not wanting to move his family," he explained, "and had nothing to do with personal terms.
"I respect what he said and I could tell it was a reluctant 'no'.
"It's disappointing but it just means I need to move on to other targets."
