BOLTON College catering students struck gold at a prestigious regional competition, returning with their best ever haul of medals.
The students entered eight classes at the annual Salon Culinaire competition at Huddersfield College.
They won five golds, a silver and a bronze, despite fierce competition from colleges and top hotels from throughout the North of England.
The role of honour included Ann-Marie Carwardine, who won gold medals in the speciality bread display and decorated fruit flan categories and Stacey Jones, who won the junior decorated cold fish section. The dish also won Stacey the coveted award of Best Junior Exhibit in Show.
Other successes were: Daniel Turner, who won gold in the junior bread selection; Pamela McQuillan who achieved gold in the senior vegetarian category; Marie Walthew who was awarded silver for her individual tartlet display and Paul Hart won bronze for his speciality bread display.
"We are all very proud of our triumphs this year, which are the best results Bolton College has ever had in this highly competitive event," said lecturer David Turner.
"It's an indication of the extremely high standard of catering students we are producing here," he added.
