SIR: I refer to the letter, Thursday June 5, 'Mums are blue at the lagoon'.

Pleasure spots exist and should be treated as such, not abused. The Blue Lagoon, used to feed a local mill, is privately owned as well as a natural beauty spot, but is regularly spoiled. Litter from picnics, bags of rubbish, walls pulled down, fences damaged. The stones at the waterfall thrown about, cars, fridges, prams etc in the lagoon itself.

These sort of people do not know the meaning of pleasure spot. So it is no small wonder that posts, chains, double lines etc were introduced.

Finally in this age of the motor car, I would have thought it healthy for mothers and children to walk half a mile or so and savour the so called modest delight of this area. To trudge suggests one does not like to walk.
