SIR: I read in the Bolton Evening News about Breightmet Golf Club wanting to extend and take land off the farmers, which a lot of people do not agree with. The Nab Gate Farm has to have grazing and agricultural land. It held the Sheepdog Trials, Show Jumping and agricultural shows, which could still be held there and would be on now only it had to be cancelled, as the last time the show was on it had rained hard on the day, and the show was to be put on the following Saturday, so the marquees were left up and before the show was held, the following Saturday, vandals had cut the marquees to ribbons. The marquees were not insured, so all the silver trophies had to be sold, which left the farmers with only £3 in the kitty.

So don't take land off Nab Gate Farm, it takes time and money to get these lovely country pursuits back again, and we understood the golf course was being extended onto the land behind Dovedale Road, which we had agreed on, with the right of way paths, and now isn't on the plan for the golf course. So leave the land to the farmers alone, and use the land which had been agreed on.
