THE Mayor of Bolton, Cllr Peter Birch, pictured right, missed his first meeting "in the chair " at Bolton Council last night.
Diabetic Cllr Birch is recovering at home after a spell in the Royal Bolton Hospital for tests over the weekend.
Deputy Mayor Cllr Eric Johnson took his place.
Meanwhile, Cllr Ken Peters, the chairman of Bolton's social services committee has been forced to stand down for a few months because of ill health.
He is also undergoing tests in the Royal Bolton Hospital.
He has temporarily swapped jobs with vice chairman Cllr Cliff Morris.
