AIRLINES have been warned to tell women flying to Uganda and Malawi that they will be subject to arrest and detention if they break new decrees about mini skirts and hot pants. The decrees state that mini skirts, hot pants, and hems three inches above the knee, and maxi skirts with slits extending above the knee, cannot be worn by tourists and residents.

AN inkling of the most revolutionary changes which may take place in libraries as a result of the inclusion of photography in their administration was given in Bolton yesterday.

By micro-photographic processes, which were as yet only in the experimental state, clear and accurate reproductions of rare documents could be made and stored against theft and mutilation. Not only that, but the films are so small that they could be stored in less than five per cent of the space required for original documents.o

THE sixth anniversary of the Master Tripe Dressers Association was held on Thursday evening, at the Robin Hood Inn, Ashburner-street, kept by Mr James Ashton, and the members partook of an excellent tea. After the repast Mr Peter Higson presided, and Mr William Lee acted as secretary. Mr William Fletcher played some first-class airs on the violin; and he was followed by Mr R. Mellor on the cornet. Mr Samuel Greenhalgh sang 'Life is a River'. The proceedings concluded at an early hour.
