IT was all quiet on the transfer front today as Wanderers and Newcastle United remained tight-lipped on the Robbie Elliott "deal".
The Magpies favourite is understood to be the man Colin Todd was hoping to add to his Premiership squad but officials of both clubs have refused to confirm that an agreement, reported to be around £2.5 million, has been struck.
Sources close to St James' Park suggest Wanderers have made a formal bid for the 23-year-old, who has been earmarked for the left-back berth.
But the Bolton boss is maintaining his customary stance of playing a dead bat when faced with transfer speculation.
Nevertheless, the absence of any other transfer activity suggests that highly-rated Elliott is the player Wanderers have targeted as their second major signing of the summer.
Meanwhile, ticket office staff at Burnden Park were dealing with their biggest queues of the summer today as season tickets went on sale for the lower tiers of the North, West and East Stands at the Reebok Stadium.
Group applications, which have been submitted by post, are being dealt with separately over the next fortnight.
Appplications for new season tickets, which go on open sale on July 3, are flooding in at the rate of 100 per day.
New requests must be made on official application forms, which are available from the club and applicants will then be advised by post or telephone if they have been successful and when they can be collected. They will not go on general sale at the ticket office windows.
