SCHOOL nurses are set to 'drop in' at one of Bolton's most popular clubs. Bolton Community Healthcare Trust is to send a team into Bolton Lads and Girls Club every week to provide expert advice and information. The nurses will tackle the issues which most concern teenagers, including:
Healthy eating
Sexual health
Smoking
Drugs and alcohol
Sun safety
Drop-in sessions will be held every Tuesday evening between 7-9pm at the Lads and Girls Club on Bark Street.
As well as the weekly sessions, there are plans to hold health education sessions at the After Schools Club covering the health topics requested by children.
A spokeman for Bolton Community Healthcare Trust, said: "Community Healthcare Bolton is delighted to be working with the Lads and Girls Club to address the needs and problems of children and young people in Bolton."
Mr Jeremy Glover, General Manager of Bolton Lads and Girls Club said he was "delighted" by the scheme.
"The nurses will be coming in and mixing with staff and students alike.
"We're hoping the kids here will look upon these nurses as someone they can talk to in a straightforward, no-nonsense sort of way.
"They will be someone who can give confidential impartial advice, not only on matters relating to sex, unwanted pregnancies, AIDS and other issues but on a whole range of subjects.
"It is simply brilliant that nurses who lead stressful lives are willing to give up an evening each week to give us help," he added.
