By Janet Hughes SHOPPING giant Asda has announced a jobs bonanza at their new store in Horwich.
Superstore bosses are set to take on hundreds of Bolton workers as part of a 3,000 recruitment drive nationwide.
Between 200 and 300 jobs will be created when the massive Middlebrook supermarket opens in September or October.
Asda bosses say there will be a mixture of full and part-time posts but hope to fill most of the vacancies with local people.
The jobs boost was revealed yesterday when Chief Executive Allan Leighton announced the company's end of year results.
More than 3,000 jobs will be created nationwide by the opening of five new stores, including Horwich, and five re-sites.
A spokesman for Asda said: "Store openings are an investment in the local community and where possible we try to recruit people from the local area."
Supermarket bosses say they will be recruiting for the Horwich store through the local Jobcentres over the next month or so.
