SINGING together to raise funds for Bolton Hospice will be 1,452 children from junior schools throughout the borough. The mass choir, which will be largest ever gathering of young singers under one roof in Bolton, will record a CD and cassette tape of songs to raise cash for the hospice.
Almost every junior school in the borough will be represented at the Victoria Hall, on Knowsley Street, next Tuesday.
The lyrical fundraiser is the idea of music co-ordinator for Bolton Education Department, Jane Hampson.
For the past week the young singers, who will be accompanied by Bolton band Chorus Brass, have been rehearsing three songs including Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber's "When Children Rule the World."
Debra Graham from the Bolton Hospice campaign office, said: "There is great excitement among the schools. It's going to be quite a spectacle."
Although the recording will take place behind closed doors the CD and tape will be on sale at music shops locally and nationwide later in the year.
