THE third race in the English Junior Fell Race Championship series is on the Winter Hill course from the Top Barn at Rivington tomorrow.
It's quite an honour for Horwich Harriers to stage the event and preparations have been going well to make it the best race so far in the championship.
Local sports wear suppliers - JS Sports - were approached to sponsor the prizes for the event and with the company director John Anglesea deciding that the race needed a special momento for the prize winners, a unique design was created to be embroidered onto waterproof jackets with 30 of these given to the prize winners.
The first three boys and the first three girls in each race will receive a jacket. In addition to these special prizes, there are medals to all finishers. This gives the race grand total of over £1500 of sponsorship.
Horwich Juniors will be out in great numbers tomorrow with the best of runners from all over England, but with Horwich's own Michael Cayton in such good form at the moment a top three finish is achievable in the U18's race.
Other Horwich juniors likely to be pushing for high position finishes are Matthew Smith (U12), Mark Smith (U14) and Laura Hughes and Gemma Jones (U14's).
The races start at 11am from the Top Barn at Rivington with entry just £1.
