SIR: I refer to the existing bridges of the Lyons Industrial Estate. Surely this is the way we should be running heavy traffic to the Lyons Industrial Estate, Kearsley.

Around £1 million of public money has been spent on two heavy duty twin lane bridges which lie redundant and fenced off.

One driver/petitioner, suggested this at the public meeting and no-one would listen to him.

Since then I have been down and surveyed the situation myself. I suggest the people concerned do the same. It would inconvenience no-one.

The bridges crossing the slip roads and main carriageways would take traffic to the heart of the estate.

The traffic going out on the main A6 Walkden would be directly on the motorway complex to anywhere north, south, east or west and all within a mile radius. The road out would only go through fields and a cycle track and there would be no damage to any properties, and half the cost.

So why is it the people concerned refuse to listen to local knowledge and local people's ideas. Surely this makes more sense than bringing in extra junctions and more traffic chaos.

And it would solve the problems on the local roads and estates at the same time.
