EWAN McCray put Golborne back in Association title contention with an outstanding bowling performance yesterday.
The talented all-rounder ended last year's champions'
recent famine of points by collecting eight wickets for 38 runs in his side's 81 run win over Elton.
The Bury side were dismissed for 100 while Golborne had earlier totalled 181-7, Andy Batterley just missing out on a century at 95 and McCray adding 32 with the bat.
Leaders Edgworth were denied by Clifton's last pair. They held out for two overs to claim a draw at 128-9 in reply to Edgworth's 165.
Tony Potter took 6-74 for Clifton while Edgworth pro Chris Jones picked up three wickets and a couple of catches.
That result kept Edgworth in front on 206 points with Atherton in second place seven points adrift and Golborne third a further five points behind.
Little Hulton looked to have lost any chance of success when they were bowled out for 113 by Spring View. Martin James with 4-47 and Andy Fox 3-23 had Little Hulton in all kinds of trouble only Mike Edwards showing any resistance with an unbeaten 38.
Yet that was only half the story as Hulton pro Lal Faraz came out to produce an inspired bowling performance.
He took seven wickets for 43 to leave Spring View100 all out, Little Hulton picking up their second win of the weekend.
Atherton, the side beaten by Little Hulton the day before, bounced back to win by eight wickets at Blackrod.
David Farrar followed up his century on Saturday by top scoring with 45 in Blackrod's 167-8 but that was never enough to deter Atherton. Brian Cole led the reply with an unbeaten 71 and with Philip West adding 45 not out, Atherton won at a canter.
Another fine individual bowling performance helped Standish beat Astley and Tyldesley by nine wickets.
Pro Andy Cumberbatch produced his best bowling performances of the season taking seven wickets for 16 as Astley were skittled for 55, Peter Walder taking the other three wickets to fall for 36 runs.
Mark Ramsdale then steered Standish to their handsome win with an unbeaten 29.
Adlington had the better of a draw against Daisy Hill after hitting 181-9, Sharriff 48 and Shovelton 35. Pro Matthew Taylor then took 6-46 but Daisy Hill ended on 135-6, skipper Chris Bannister top scoring with 29.
Noel Nicklin hit an unbeaten 69 in Darcy Lever's 175-3 but British Aero hung on for the draw at 105-7, Tony Settle hitting 49.
