SIR: This is a copy of a letter I've sent to the Head of Bolton Council. "Please can you tell me when you are going to stop robbing the people of Horwich and start giving us something back.

" I've been reading the BEN over the last few months and all I see and read is that you have spent £8million on two council estates i.e. Orlit and Mancroft in Great Lever (BEN May 21) and now in the paper on June 19 you are on about Long Lane and Hall i'th'Wood estates.

"The pictures show how you have put fancy fencing and walls instead of hedges and gates that are falling off their hinges yet when the people of Horwich want anything all you do is say no.

"Horwich is about half the size of Bolton and yet you still keep selling more and more of Horwich off i.e. Houses, Stadium and shopping complex.

"All the money you are making through doing this is, getting spent on stupid things like video links and doing more and more on the town centre, which doesn't need to be redone every year.

"Well I think it is ridiculous and I think it's about time you let the people of Horwich have something back i e our own council back for a start, to make our own decisions.

"Ever since you took Horwich council over in 1974 you have taken, taken and taken again. We were told years ago when Horwich council was still Horwich, we would get a leisure centre, boating lake, four community centres and libraries.

"Yet you took over just after these plans where made and instead of them, all we got was one leisure centre, two community centres which are now closed because yet again you sold them off and the same with the library.

"We pay a higher council tax than anywhere else in Bolton area and yet we still get nothing back.

"The kids have no places to go, the old folks have nowhere to go now, because you've closed the library at Brazley down. The so-called library bus is never to be seen.

"Also in the paper it says, you are going to start charging for the wheelie-bins £30. Nobody can pay that and besides we pay enough taxes in this country."
