MORE than 2,000 holidaymakers, including dozens from the Bolton area, had a miraculous escape when a jet plane plunged into Pontin's holiday camp at Blackpool.
They were sitting down to their evening meal when the twin-engined Hansa executive jet smashed through a line of chalets, burst into flames, and exploded. Seven of the eight people on board were killed. The plane had been taking off from Squires Gate Airport.

FOR those who, by choice or circumstance, are spending the holidays at home there is plenty to attract. If one's taste runs that way, there is the fair at Moor-lane, or bowls, tennis, and golf in the parks, and a wealth of country beauty at the end of a short bus ride.
We have been reminded again how agreeable is Bolton for an industrial town in its surroundings. A holiday at home this week in the clear atmosphere and quiet streets, roads and lanes, can be a real joy. It all depends on the weather.

THE following letter appears in the Manchester Courier:-
Sir, - In your issue of Friday, giving a report of the trial of a factory operative at Bury, relative to the last fatal affray at the Bradley Fold Station, one would imagine that passengers are often inconvenienced owing to the delay in getting their tickets. In justice to the station-master at Bradley Fold, allow me to state that during the last three years, I have been at the station four or five times daily, and during that time I have never witnessed a crush for tickets. Considering the average number of passengers at each train does not exceed half a dozen, and that at all times you are able to get your tickets twenty minutes before any train starts, I am sure the general public suffer no inconvenience. I might add that the hotel is not a dozen yards from the station, and the station master always has the bell rung five minutes before the time to enable any one to get their tickets. Yours, etc., TRAVELLER.
