DARING charity workers are desperately seeking a star to help raise funds at a death-defying event later this month.
Volunteers from the Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Trust are on the lookout for a top name to join in a rope slide from the top of Blackpool Tower on Wednesday, July 16.
The event's organisers are hoping to raise more than £1,000 for the charity and donations have already been flooding in.
Because Blackpool Council has to switch on the tram power supply at 5.30am, the spectacular stunt involving a team of daredevils will take place at 4.30am.
The event has taken more than two years to arrange and organiser Julie Smith, of Clayton-le-Woods, hopes the commando slide will run smoothly.
Julie said: "We're searching for someone well-known to join in the slide. We were hoping Gary Lineker would come but he's had to pull out because of other commitments.
"GMTV has said it might come along and film us, because there are 50 people doing the slide and it'll be a one-off event."
Anyone who can help Julie in her search for a star should ring her on (01772) 460756.
