ANDY Makin is quickly proving that he has the potential to be a matchman of the highest order after winning yet another club match.
Fishing in the Kearsley Royal British Legion match on the River Weaver, Andy switched between castor and maggot and caught two nice bream plus bits on the short pole for 5lbs 5oz.
Terry Dugdale just nicked second place when he caught skimmers, roach and perch on red maggot using the waggler for 3lb-5dr.
Harold Clowes also used the waggler to good effect but was just one small fish short of a better result when he finished with 3lbs.
Peter Wood was left puzzled at the weigh-in when the scales only recorded 2lbs-8oz. He felt sure he had caught at least 4lb and was confident of second place.
A thorough inspection of his keep net revealed a couple of small holes which proved to be the reason why he finished in fourth.
BOATHOUSE Angling Club tried their luck on a fishery when they travelled to Heronbrook in Staffordshire for a club match.
And they were not disappointed as the 35 members' weights totalled over 330lbs.
Most fished the pole with castor and a lot of different species were caught including carp, tench, skimmers, bream, roach and golden orfe.
Way out in front was Frank Oakes who weighed in a mighty 43lbs-10oz.

Bradshaw Fisheries continue to produce good form on the Monday and Wednesday opens.
Tom Pennington and Roy Foster are showing blistering form with a string of victories on the water, that leaves the others wondering how they can be beaten.

BOLTON butcher Dave Worsnop carved himself a slice of the action when he won the first day of the Guinness Ballybay Angling Festival held in County Monaghan in Ireland.
He caught a 58lb 9oz haul of bream which came from Lough Major during the Festival organised by specialist tour operator Leisure Angling of Liverpool.
Dave, 49, was fishing with a groundbait swimfeeder and red maggot and included bream to 3lb in his catch.
He finished fifth overall in the four-day event with a total catch of 114lb 7oz.
