SALES staff at a Bolton company have been keyed up for success by a college course which meant they never had to leave their office desks.
Ten members of staff at Lancashire Tube Stockholdings, Hall i'th' Wood, have been awarded certificates after achieving top flight results on an in-house keyboarding skills course.
Two of the group, Dean McDermott and Linda Foster, gained distinctions for the high standard of their work.
Bolton College lecturer Pam Pelleymounter visited the firm over a period of five weeks during spring to give the staff individual keyboard tuition, followed by an exam at the end of the course.
None of the staff had previous training and needed to learn how to operate keyboards quickly and accurately while taking telephone orders.
"The course has been a great success and it was a real advantage being able to arrange the training on site to fit in with our own timetable," explained Communications Director Stuart Storer.
"It follows our policy of investing in people and we hope to see a bosost in sales as our staff work more efficiently."
