PARENTS in Bolton have been warned to be extra vigilant after two men were spotted photographing children at a local primary school.
Police were alerted after the pair were seen in the playground of Devonshire Road County Primary School during lunchtime on June 26.
When approached by a member of staff, the men ran to a nearby car and drove off.
Parents were informed by letter this week and the incident logged on the council's "School Safe" system.
In the meantime, staff and lunchtime supervisors have been asked to keep a special watch while the children are reminded of the dangers of talking to strangers.
Areas near the school gates have been coned off to keep children away and all gates have been secured.
Headteacher Mrs Margaret Gregory said: "Understandably parents are very concerned, but we want to reassure them that the safety of the children is our main priority.
"The police have been into school to talk to children and staff and the situation is being monitored.
"We don't want to panic parents, but we want to let them know that we take the situation very seriously."
But one mum who has two children at the school said parents should have been informed of the incident sooner.
She said: "We are upset that it took a week before a letter was sent to parents. One of our kids could have been snatched before then.
"This isn't on. We should have been told right away."
