PARISHIONERS at St Ethelbert's RC Church in Deane have waited 26 years to see a member of their parish ordained to the priesthood . . . now two have come along in one week!
There have never been any ordinations in the St Ethelbert's Parish, and Philip Brady and Andrew Waller are changing all of that in dramatic style.
Philip will be ordained at St Ethelbert's on Sunday at 3pm. In an unusual step Archbishop of Liverpool, Patrick Kelly, who left his position as the former Bishop covering the Bolton Diocese just 12 months ago, will conduct the ordination.
He is making his return visit because the Salford Diocese, which includes Bolton, has still no Bishop.
Andrew Waller's ordination will take place on Saturday, July 12 at the chapel in Thornleigh. The following day he will give his first mass at St Ethelbert's.
Michael Flatley, Parish Priest, said: "This is a great celebration for the Parish. We have never had an ordination in this Parish. Now, to have two, is fantastic."
