A FARNWORTH grandmother is looking forward to her first trip abroad after coming first in a "guess the numbers" competition.

Josey Thornley and her family will be jetting off to sunny Florida for two weeks - the super prize in a competition as part of the Bolton "Running to Save Lives" appeal.

The appeal organisers, who raise cash for the Joe Jaffe Renal Unit at Pendlebury Children's Hospital, staged a fun run at Leverhulme Park, Breightmet last month.

Thousands of people took part in the competition to guess how many runners there would be on the day - and Josey's guess of 543 competitors was the closest to the actual figure of 548, without going over.

A delighted Josey, who will go on the holiday with her son Darren and grand-daughter Abigail, received their prize from appeal trustees Barbara Bonser and Dorothy Hughes.

Event organiser Keith Coulter said: "I don't think Josey can believe she has won.

"She and her family are delighted with the prize and are very excited about their fantastic holiday."
