NEW Atherton Colls first team supremo, Tommy Harrison, made an unbeaten start with a 1-1 home draw with Ramsbottom United in the NWCL Division One.
Harrison explained: "I set our stall out to be hard to beat and it almost paid off completely. Rammie had an effort in the first minute and one in the last but other than that our keeper, Paul Blenkinship, had little to do.
"I was pleased with the attitude of the players because collectively and individually they all put in 100 per cent.
"Ian Curwen, up front, had his best game for us but the pick of a good bunch was Colin Davies in the centre of midfield.
"Unfortunately Dalton Adams told me after the game that he is finishing to concentrate an his Thai Boxing which will be a blow to us because he has been doing well."
Paul Whittle scored Colls' goal midway through the first half with a penalty. Ramsbottom equalised 30 seconds from time when Jason Findley, ironically a former player of Harrison's when he was manager at Stoneclough, headed in.
ATHERTON LR's away fixture at Holker Old Boys was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
