RADCLIFFE BORO face the toughest home game of the season tomorrow with high flying Barrow the visitors to Stainton Park.
While just about everything appears to have gone wrong for Boro this term the exact opposite can be said for the Cumbrian outfit. The lead at the top of the Premier Division is currently 10 points and a place in next season's Vauxhall Conference line up is looking more certain by the week.
Expected to be included in their line-up is recent signing Mike Marsh the former Liverpool, West Ham United and Coventry City midfield star who joined the club a fortnight ago after being released by Southend United.
Radcliffe pulled off a real shock last Saturday with a 1-0 win at Hyde United but in mid-week went down to a single goal defeat at home in the big home clash with Leigh RMI. Ian Lunt got sent off in that derby game for two bookable offences and looks set to receive a one-match automatic ban. Central defenders Loz Greenhalgh (knee) and Simon Whittle (ankle) will both be non-starters for tomorrow's top clash. Adding to manager Kevin Glendon's selection headache is another centre half Shaun McHugh who has suffered a recurrence of a calf strain. He faces a late fitness test.
BRIAN Horsburgh has resigned as chairman of Atherton LR football club. The club hope to make a decision on a successor in the near future.
LR entertain Division 1 leaders Newcastle Town tomorrow with manager Gerry Luczka hoping to have signed highly-rated young striker Craig Blackie in time to lead the LR front line against the table toppers. Tomorrow's visitors have lost just one league game in 32 outings this season and look current favourites to step up into the Unibond League.
ATHERTON COLLS central defender Simon O'Brien has a one-week break a massive six-week suspension and returns to the side for tomorrow's vital relegation scrap at Ramsbottom United. The inclusion of "O'B" is a massive psychological boost for a Colls side now getting desperate for league points to escape that trap door into the 2nd Division. The defender has been hit with two three-week suspensions for an accumulation of bookings but will thankfully get this one game under his belt before serving out the second. Scott Dowds returns tomorrow from illness and Neil Wright could also be available after missing two games through work commitments. Ian Curwen is definitely out and full back Paul Whittle is struggling with a back injury.
