POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a teenager was knocked unconscious as he tried to cross a busy dual carriageway.
Matthew Sherlock was still being treated for concussion and other injuries in the Royal Bolton Hospital today following the accident on Moss Bank Way.
Matthew, 15, of Crompton Way, was with a group of friends near the junction with Temple Road.
The rest of the group stayed on the pavement but Matthew tried to get across the road, where a contra-flow system is operating because of roadworks.
He was in an accident with a Bedford Rascal van being driven towards Blackburn Road by Kenneth McIvor, aged 54, of Down Green Road, Harwood.
Matthew suffered bruises and grazes to both legs and severe concussion.
Witnesses to the accident at 7.45pm last night should call 0161 872 5050.
