WELL-known local man Jim Wooff made the journey to his final resting place by horse-drawn hearse.
Family and friends attended the funeral service at Horwich Parish Church yesterday M-$which was followed by burial at Ridgmont Cemetery.
Mr Wooff, who was 54 and lived in Horwich died after a long illness. He leaves a widow, Susan and two children, Catherine and Steven.
Mrs Wooff said her husband had continued to be involved in committee work up until his death.
The hearse, drawn by two greys, was decided upon because of Mr Wooff's involvement in horse organisations.
He was founder of Bolton and Bury Riding Club and was on the committee of the North-west Working Horse Society and the Lancashire Driving Club.
He had been a prominent businessman but was forced to retire from more strenuous work because of his ill health.
He ran his own haulage business and his last job was as a taxi driver.
