BT is backing the sixth annual Bolton and Bury Business Awards.

The communications giant has become a supporting sponsor through BT Business Connections.

The division specialises in developing services for the small and medium enterprise sector.

It is sponsoring the Innovation in Business category worth £2,000 to a company which has shown outstanding success in marketing and communication skills.

Mr Dave Mitchell, BT's Small Business Community Manager, said: "We believe in investing in local communities and through BT Business Connections we also help small companies take advantage of the latest communications technology.

"The Bolton and Bury Business Awards is a wonderful opportunity for BT to play its part locally and recognise the many excellent companies in these towns who strive to give their business a competitive edge."

Main sponsorship in this year's awards comes from Business Link Bolton & Bury and Warner Village Cinemas.

Mr Paul Davidson, Chief Executive of organisers Bolton Business Ventures, said: "We are delighted BT Business Connections has joined us as a supporting sponsor of the Bolton & Bury Business Awards. "BT is a world-class company and Bolton and Bury boast world-beating companies both large and small."

This year's gala prize presentation evening will be at the Last Drop Village Hotel on Friday, May 15.
