SIR: I feel I must reply to 'Often terrified user', Tuesday, February, 25, another one who knocks taxi and private hire drivers, but hasn't the guts to sign his or her name.

I have been a private hire driver since 1986 and am not afraid to give my name.

May I ask, if you are so terrified, why use cabs? If the drivers are so bad, why not report them to licensing or even the police. The driver's badge number can be obtained, or failing that, the plate number of the car is displayed six times around the vehicle. I am quite sure the licensing office would take the appropriate action.

As for the comments regarding bus drivers, all I will say is, there are good and bad in those too.
