SIR: When I was a small girl at infants school, I, like all other schoolchildren of a similar age, had to drink a small bottle of milk every school day. This was to help to ensure that we grew up to be strong and healthy because of all the good things in the milk.
Could not today's school children of a similar age also be given a daily drink, this time of fluoridated water, when at school. It could be accompanied by simple lessons on basic diet and dental care.
This would target those likely to be in more need of such medication and avoid the compulsory medication of those adults who don't want it.
