Leigh RMI 0, Guiseley 0 HIGH FLYING Leigh have yet to break their duck after four games against the Yorkshiremen this season.
Guiseley have certainly proved to be RMI's bogey side but the accomplished outfit, well coached by former Leeds favourite Bobby Davison, have deserved their reward.
They denied Leigh again on Saturday with a polished defensive performance which restricted the home side to a handful of scoring opportunities which they failed to grasp.
Simon Parke's cool and assured display at the heart of the defence was the key to Guiseley's well earned point. The visitors created few real scoring chances but Colin Hunter's ferocious 20 yards drive ricocheted off the cross bar leaving Dave Felgate a relieved keeper.
Both sides were hampered by the wind yet Leigh had their moments and striker Chris Shaw should have tucked away at least one of the three reasonable clear cut scoring opportunities that fell his way.
Ian Brady had a header tipped over the bar by the keeper eight minutes from time while Parke also made a last gasp clearance from a Wallace corner.
It left manager Steve Waywell bemoaning his lack of a speedy winger and a big striker.
"They are a good side and had the rub of the green but it always looked like being a draw. It was very windy but if we had someone with pace on the wings and a big striker we could have finished them off. I have a winger in mind but it will be next season before I can get him," said Waywell.
