A PROMINENT figure on the local engineering scene has had a promotion.
Mr David Ball, managing director of Webster Drives Ltd in Bolton, now has the additional position of group manufacturing director of the Bradford-based parent company Syltone Industries plc.
Mr Ball, who is chairman of Bolton Training Group, has also been on the executive committee of the Engineering Employers' Federation locally since the early 1980s.
His new job gives him responsibility for Syltone projects in the UK and throughout the world.
Mr Ball served his engineering apprenticeship at Kay & Co (Engineers) Ltd after leaving school in 1956.
He became director and general manager at the then Jonas Webster (Engineers) Ltd in 1976 and was made managing director in 1982.
