THE all-women Saskia Piano Trio will play for the next concert in the popular Bolton School Arts Centre Chamber Music Series on April 5. They will be playing Haydn's Trio in C; Beethoven's Trio in D Major, The Ghost, and the Ravel Trio in A Minor. The Trio was formed in 1996 when its members were all post graduate students at the Royal Northern College of Music.
Natalie Tantrum (violin) is from New Zealand; Natalie Williams (cello) is Canadian and Helen Fairer (piano) is from England.
Since its inception the Trio has enjoyed considerable success in competitions, winning the coveted Terence Weil and Hirsch Chamber Music prizes and being prizewinners in the Royal Over-Seas League Ensemble Competition. It is the ROL who have sponsored the artists for this Bolton concert.
Last summer the Trio was Ensemble in Residence at the Lake District Summer School and its members are currently Scholars in Chamber Music at the RNCM.
The Trio has twice recorded for the BBC and has a full programme of concerts ahead including playing at St Martins in the Fields and the Bridgewater Hall. Tours of Europe and Canada are planned.
As usual in this series, the artists for the concert which starts at 3pm will introduce the programme themselves and there will be afternoon tea after the concert and a chance to meet the Trio. Tickets may be reserved by telephoning 01204 849475.
