SIR: I am sure that everyone will agree what a lovely sight the daffodils are as they once more appear in and around the town. Every year the Bolton and District Civic Trust spend a great deal of time planting sacks and sacks of them in a bid to enhance town and surrounding areas.
Unfortunately they last only a few weeks, but, for those few weeks, don't they bring a cheerful aspect to many otherwise forgotten areas?
Can I therefore please ask parents and grandparents not to encourage children to pick them to take them home.
Indeed, could I appeal to everyone who appreciates these displays, not to pick them, but to leave them to flower and give enjoyment to as many people as possible.
A Warr, Hon Secretary,
Bolton & District
Civic Trust.
