MANCHESTER City captain Kit Symons performed the topping out ceremony at the new Marriott Hotel and Country Club on the site of Worsley Old Hall.
He fixed a weather vane to the top of the building - a guide to golfers when the 18-hole championship course opens in April, 1999.
The ceremony represents a milestone in the 18-month construction project by Laing North West, a division of John Laing Construction, in partnership with Whitbread Hotel Company.
The contract is a design and build deal worth about £15 million.
