SIR: Bolton's planning "blueprint" for the 21st century (BEN: Saturday, February 28) has me thinking "Here we go again!". A review of where "new this" and "new that" should be: which land should be "green belt" and which "recreation"?
My lip curls when I read that "the more people who take part in the consultation, the better," and that there will be a public inquiry.
Who can blame me for being bitter when I must accept as verbatim the remarks by Cllr Foster that 'there are areas HE would like to see developed', while there are others HE doesn't want to have disturbed.
It worries me, the use of the personal pronoun by this powerful committee chairman. If tackled, would he come up with the usual "misquoted" bit?
I fear that the "rubber stamp" syndrome will decide the future of the town; and the consultation exercise will be just that - an "exercise".
Birtenshaw bred a cruel brand of cynicism insofar as any "glib utterances" from planning and legal sources within the town hall are concerned.
