SIR: I find it amazing to read that Bolton Council have set aside three million pounds so that anyone working for the local authority, who is redundant, can be switched to other jobs without loss of pay.
That three million pounds could have been used for education - supposedly a council priority. This, along with Government grants, might have saved the Council Tax payer from a large increase in tax.
Council Tax is paid by pensioned families, people on fixed incomes and also by many who have become redundant and been forced to take other jobs at lower salaries.
