NO SMOKING I was only 13 - a Woodbine I'll have to try.
You've been smoking, you stink, now don't lie.
Mother sensed what was going on.
Cigarettes and their smoke was frowned upon.
Cigarettes are out in our house;
Take heed what I say.
No need for a long face and a grouse;
Want to breathe fresh air every day.
This procedure we agreed was right,
To inhale fresh air and sweet.
No brown fingers, but snowy white,
This in itself was a treat.
No lung cancer, or throaty cough.
Its Mum we've got to thank,
For thinking all those years ahead,
For being very strict and frank. By Walter Ainscough, Turner Street, Daisy Hill, Westhoughton.
