AS four British trawlers had their trawl wires cut today off Iceland, it was thought that Foreign Secretary Sir Alex Douglas Home, may soon be faced with a decision on whether to send in the Royal Navy to provide protection.

JUDGING by some of the examples of men's headgear seen in London shops recently, men, as well as women, will have colourful Easter bonnets, writes a woman reporter.
Dusty pink, egg-shell blue and the latest Paris pea-green, are among the colours men are choosing.
'And why not?' asked the manager of a well-known London hatters. 'Women have held the stage long enough with their Easter bonnets. It's time the men had a turn.'
He preducts that before the year is out bowlers and boaters will be back.
125 YEARS AGO

IMMEDIATELY after the Cabinet Council yesterday afternoon, Mr Gladstone had an interview with her Majesty at Buckingham Palace, and announced the wish of the Ministry to resign. The Premier then suggested that Mr Disraeli should be sent for, which was accordingly done, and, later in the afternoon, the right honourable gentleman was closeted with the Queen. Mr Disraeli did not give a definite answer to the Queen's wish that he should form a government, but asked that time should be given him to consult with his friends, several of whom were on the Continent. The request was graciously acceded to by the Queen, and Mr Disraeli then retired.
