POLICE stations in Bury, Leigh and Little Hulton will close if the Greater Manchester Police Authority agrees the plans for re-organisation around the county.
In BURY division, the current police post at Tottington will be axed and NOT replaced with any form of police presence.
But police posts in Radcliffe and Prestwich will be retained, as will deployment stations for vehicles and staff in Ramsbottom and Whitefield.
The Bury headquarters in Irwell Street will remain.
In LEIGH area, the police post at Atherton will close, as will deployment stations in Tyldesley, Hindley and Golborne.
But closures in all those areas will be replaced with alternative centres. A deployment station will open in Atherton, and new police posts will open in Tyldesley, Hindley and Golborne. An additional police post could open in Astley.
Leigh headquarters will remain unchanged.
In LITTLE HULTON, the existing police station will shut and be replaced by a police post.
A police post in Boothstown is set to close and not be replaced.
If the plans are approved, the Swinton headquarters, which has overall control of operations in Little Hulton, Worsley and Walkden, will move to a new site at Wardley Industrial estate.
