SIR: How can whoever is responsible for closing libraries and now cutting Home Watch schemes and so many other things essential to the ordinary people justify it when I have never seen as many new council vehicles in my life? There seems to be a vehicle for every department, but there is not one for the cleaning of public toilets because we do not have any. Why can we not cut down on this vast expense on vehicles and make them last longer as we have done in the past. My rates are going up again. Is this to pay for vehicles and not essential services?
