BOLTON Wanderers are aiming to take full advantage of Dennis Bergkamp's "stupidity", which has dealt a hammer blow to Arsenal's Championship ambitions.

The Dutchman's dismissal for blatantly elbowing West Ham skipper Steve Lomas in last night's FA Cup quarter-final at Upton Park has ruled him out of the Gunners' visit to the Reebok on March 31.

Losing such a key player for two Premiership games as well as the semi-final clash with Wolves, represents a major setback to Arsene Wenger's hopes of catching Manchester United in the title race. But it could be a boost to Wanderers' hopes of avoiding the drop. Colin Todd, who will be without suspended top scorer Nathan Blake for the home game against Leicester three days earlier, was relieved to know he won't have the Dutch Master to contend with in a game so vital to their survival hopes.

But the Wanderers boss pointed to the fact that Arsenal, down to 10 men after just 33 minutes, still managed to book their semi-final slot.

"They didn't do too badly without him!" the Wanderers boss said, noting Arsenal's triumph via extra-time and penalties after the scores were level at 1-1 in normal time.

Todd was suitably impressed by the performance of trialist striker Gaetano Giallanza in yesterday's training session.

The 25-year-old former Swiss U-21 international is at the Reebok on a short trial from French club FC Nantes. "There's no substitute for seeing a player in match action but he did quite well," Todd said encouragingly. "We'll see him again before making a decision."

Wanderers, determined to bolster their survival squad with a long-term loan deal before next Thursday's transfer deadline, are also tracking another continental-based striker.
