BURY councillors will decide tomorrow whether a scheme to convert a former landfill site into a golf course and cricket ground can go ahead.
The Tower Farm site, known locally as Radcliffe Ee's had been used for several decades, for sand and gravel working and then tipping and landfilling.
Now a plan has been put forward to add 700,000 cubic metres of construction industry waste over three to five years before making the site into a nine-hole golf course with clubhouse and a cricket pitch to replace the existing one at the East Lancashire Paper Mill plus car parking. Petitions signed by nearly 400 residents have objected to the proposals Bury's planning committee members will visit the site tomorrow.
