fund boost A FUND, inspired by the plight of one little girl, has raised £5,000 in less than four months on behalf of leukaemia research.
And more than £2,600 of that total was collected at a grand charity night held recently at Dobbies Sports and Social Club in Bradley Fold.
The evening, in aid of the Elizabeth Morris Leukaemia Research Appeal, featured a raffle in which the first prize of a holiday for two in Marbella was won by Natalia Calvert of Halliwell.
Elizabeth, from Ringley, who is almost two, was diagnosed as suffering from leukaemia and has been undergoing treatment at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital.
Her grandmother, Sandra Rimmer, works at Alderbank, and when her colleagues heard of the youngster's plight, they decided to do something positive to help. The fund was started and response has since been overwhelming.
Elizabeth, pictured with her mum Janet, was on hand at the evening to pull out the wining raffle ticket.
