BURY face a double injury wait ahead of tomorrow's home clash with First Division form team Oxford United.
Shakers boss Stan Ternent will give late fitness tests to hamstring injury victims Lenny Johnrose and Rob Matthews before finalising the side he hopes will bounce back to winning ways after last Saturday's 3-0 setback at leaders Nottingham Forest.
That defeat ended Bury's nine-match unbeaten run and victory tomorrow is vital to the Gigg Lane men's hopes of achieving their 50-point survival target.
"We've got to be looking to win every game but especially our home games," said Ternent.
"They are on a good run just as we were before last week and we know it is going to be difficult - as they all are in this division."
If Johnrose, who missed the City Ground defeat, proves his fitness he will resume his blossoming midfield partnership with Tony Rigby and Mark Patterson. Matthews' return, meanwhile, is not so certain with Ternent having to choose between him and Tony Ellis to link up with Oxford old boy Nigel Jemson in attack.
Oxford's confidence is sky high after winning seven and drawing two of the 11 games since new manager Malcolm Shotton took over, including a maximum nine-point haul from their last three games.
And the main threat is certain to be rejuvenated winger Joey Beauchamp who tops his club's scoring charts with 18 goals and whose outstanding form has made him the focus of increasing transfer speculation.
