BURY MP David Chaytor has called on the Government to become even more "green friendly".
He has put down a Commons motion congratulating Chancellor Gordon Brown on the green taxes in this week's Budget, praising the measures on landfill tax, road fuel duty, vehicle excise duty, company car fuel scales and industrial energy efficiency.
Mr Chaytor believes there is further potential for green taxes to create a sustainable economy through the reduction of pollution, the improvement of air and water quality and the reduction of taxes on employment creation.
He urges the Government, with the backing of seven fellow Labour MPs, to intensify its use of green taxes so more can be included in the 1999 Budget.
