TWO star-athletes are urging the people of Bolton to "clean-up". Commonwealth Games gold medallist, Diane Modahl and UK 1500 metre champion Kevin McKay, are asking members of the town to support a "Dash Against Trash" which will run through Bolton town centre on the April 16. The dash, organised by the environmental charity Tidy Britain Group, will help promote Britain's largest annual clean-up, National Spring Clean.

Volunteers will be using all sorts of eco-friendly transport from trains and buses through to bicycles, unicycles, space hoppers and their own two feet to spread the anti-litter message from Land's End to John o'Groats and Dover to Portrush in Northern Ireland.

"I strongly urge the people of Bolton to support the Dash Against Trash," says Diane Modahl.

"It's a unique, fun way of getting over an important message. Come along and lend your support to the worthy volunteers taking part."

Kevin McKay said: "National Spring Clean is an important annual event. It brings people together in making a difference to their environment. On April 16, it will be your turn to support it, so don't drop the baton!"

Bolton Council have given full support to the litter relay, which could include a road show providing all sorts of fun and games.
