TEENAGER Rosemin Dakri was surrounded by cake on her birthday - but she didn't taste a crumb!
The generous bakery worker was determined to take part in World Vision's 24 Hour Famine sponsored fast.
And the she wasn't deterred when she realised the fast date fell on her 17th birthday.
To make matters worse, Rosemin, of Venice Street, Bolton, works at Greenhalgh's Craft Bakery, putting the finishing touches to cakes!
"I didn't mind missing it," said Rosemin, adding that she didn't find it difficult to stick to her fast, despite having hundreds of delicious cakes passing in front of her. Her mum, Yasmin, normally bakes Rosemin a birthday cake but this time had a year off, with money that would have been spent on ingredients going towards her sponsorship fund.
Last year Rosemin managed to raise £50 from her fast and is hoping to do even better this year.
Cash raised will be spent on World Vision projects, including health education in Bangladesh, Guinea worm treatment in Sudan and clean water for Angola.
Anyone who wants to boost Rosemin's fund-raising efforts can send a cheque or postal order payable to 24 Hour Famine to 24 Hour Famine, World Vision, FREEPOST MK1730, Milton Keynes, MK9 3YZ.
