A POLICE officer jumped into the Leeds and Liverpool Canal at Adlington to rescue a woman.
PC Kevin McDonald plunged into the canal at the bottom of Harrison Road last night and pulled the middle-aged woman out.
Firefighters wrapped her in aluminium foil to keep her warm before she was taken to Chorley and District Hospital suffering the effects of cold.
The woman, who lives on a barge in the canal, is believed to have stumbled into the water.
